2 Fall Festivals in McKinney

October 13, 2019

L.M. Montgomery once said “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”, and we agree 100%! October means the weather cools down, pumpkin patches arrive, nights are spent outside around a fire, and outdoor festivals begin! McKinney is lucky enough to have two amazing events that take place each October - the McKinney Wine & Music Festival and McKinney Fall Fest. Here’s a quick look into both these festivals and what you can expect.

McKinney Wine & Music Festival

The 3rd Annual McKinney Wine and Music Festival, presented by Master Built Contractors, will take place on Saturday, October 19th, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. This year the event has moved to a new location - Dr. Glenn Mitchell Memorial Park in downtown McKinney. Wine tasting is at the center of the event with over 100 wines to taste. The event will feature local wineries from McKinney and the North Texas region alongside nationally known brands such as Kendall Jackson and Kim Crawford wines. Lauren Stephan, President of SBG Hospitality and creator of McKinney Wine & Music Fest, is particularly excited about this year’s event because “we’re expanding our brands to showcase wines from around the world and we’re also increasing the wine tables at the event to make sure people are spending their time having fun and not waiting in lines!”

Sipping on wine may be the main event, but that isn’t all there is to do! Get your dance on from music by the Jessica McVey Band, Atlantis Aquarius, and McKinney’s own Maylee Thomas Band. Don't miss the grape stomping competitions, happening throughout the day - they're sponsored by a fantastic local food tour company, We Ate Well Food Tours. There will also be lots of shopping with local boutiques and artisans, culinary demonstrations and plenty of delicious food.

General admission to the festival is free and open to all ages, although we encourage you to purchase tasing tickets in advance in order to avoid ticket lines. Ticket options include a wine pass for $40 which includes a signature event wine glass and 20 tasting tickets. There’s also a more affordable option for $20 for attendees who only want to taste 10 wines. And new this year is the VIP pass for $80 which includes access into the VIP tent for food, beer tastings and exclusive wines. All tickets can be purchased here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/3rd-annual-mckinney-wine-music-festival-tickets-55038285995

If you’re a wine lover you won’t want to miss this event! And now that the event has moved to downtown McKinney you can walk over to your favorite bar or restaurant once the event is over and continue the fun! Plus the fact that that this year’s festival takes place in a park should make for a perfect Autumn outing. It’s also important to note that part of the proceeds from this event is going towards the local non-profits Love Life Foundation and The Warrior’s Keep.
