Whether you don't drink, don't care for beer, or happen to be pregnant this fall (like me 🤰🏻)... you might be tempted to pass on Oktoberfest this weekend. I'm here to encourage you to reconsider! While there are of course plenty of beer drinking opportunities, McKinney's 10th annual Oktoberfest has tons of non 🍺 related activities planned as well.
Fun for non beer drinkers
🎉 Opening Parade - Kick off the event with a parade, music, and keg tapping ceremony
🐔 Texas' Largest Chicken Dance - And you thought you had to wait for a wedding to do the Chicken Dance…
💪🏼 Stein holding competition - Think you can hold a stein filled with 33 ounces of beer straight out? No bent elbows? It's harder than it looks, and the winner at the McKinney Oktoberfest gets a ticket to Las Vegas to compete in the second round of the competition!
🐶 Weenie Dog Races - Oktoberfest is for pups too! All breeds welcome, no proof of weenie dog blood required to participate.
🌭 TUPPS brat eating contest - This event is limited to the first 10 registrants, so if you want to eat more brats than any human ever should in one sitting… hurry and register quickly!
👟 Crape Myrtle Trails Run - 10K, 5K, and 1 mile fun run.
👶🏽 Kinder Korner - For those of you with kiddos, check out the petting zoo and carnival for more kid friendly options.
🎶 Music and Dance Groups - Enjoy entertainment all weekend long from a variety of bands and dance groups on the multiple stages of Oktoberfest.
🛍 Shop the Marktplatz - A great opportunity to support local artists and vendors. Grab an Oktoberfest specific souvenir or a one of a kind piece of art.
Also enjoy: German arts & crafts, Polka dance lessons, and Bier Barrel Races
