Now I’m sure you all might be familiar with the local restaurant chain Starwood Cafe. If not, it’s a quaint North Texas chain with six different locations all located north of the Sam Rayburn Tollway. Open for breakfast and lunch only and each restaurant has it’s own unique style and feel. Starwood serves great homestyle comfort food and the service is the type of Southern hospitality you’ve come to expect from a local breakfast joint.
McKinney is lucky enough have two Starwood locations, with the newest one squeezed into the El Dorado Plaza almost lost between the hustle and bustle that a Starbucks and a Trader Joe’s can bring to a shopping center. I remember when this location opened in the Fall of 2016, I was actually headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond and happened to glance to my left as I drove through the parking lot and noticed the new restaurant. I took a mental note to try out this new location, I had been to the one in Adriatic and enjoyed it so why not. But of course typical me, I have the worst memory in the world and I never made my way over to this Starwood until last weekend.
And man, what a mistake on my part! As soon as I walked in I was pleasantly surprised by the decor and the light airy feel. I would use the phrase ‘farmhouse chic’ to describe the atmosphere of the Starwood Eldorado. I got a relaxing and cozy vibe when I walked in and I was actually disappointed in myself that I haven’t been eating here on a regular basis. We had our kids with us so we sat at a comfy booth. Otherwise, I would have asked to be seated at the classic diner counter that faces the open kitchen (I’m always secretly trying to live out my Grease dreams in a modern McKinney kind of way). Anyways, to say the least I loved the vibe I was getting when I showed up for breakfast Saturday morning.
Now you have to know that breakfast is my favorite meal which means I can be pretty picky when it comes to breakfast joints. Well let me tell you, Starwood definitely does not disappoint! So far I’ve had the french toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and migas and all were amazing. The pancakes are huge and fluffy, the french toast is flavorful, the maple syrup comes out warm and those migas, oh man they are to die for! The coffee is also good and if you order tea they give it to you in an antique china teacup. Great food and fast service, I mean how can you not like this place?
So if you can’t tell, I highly recommend Starwood Cafe - Eldorado and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised that this cafe located in a strip center is so warm and inviting inside and even has an amazing patio that I can’t wait to try out once the cool weather is here to stay.
