McKinney St. Patrick's Day Festival & Shamrock Run

Get your green gear ready, because Saturday, March 16th is the 2nd Annual McKinney St. Patrick's Day Festival & Shamrock Run, and we can't wait!!! We attended this free event last year and had a blast, and this year is going to be even better.

They'll have delicious food, plenty of cold beer, dancing, kid friendly activities and lots of local boutiques and shops. And with added parking/shuttle options and a new BEER PASS (say whaaaaa?), getting in and getting your drinks will be even faster and easier.

We've broken everything down for you below, with the key info you need to enjoy this Celtic celebration.

5K Shamrock Run

  • Registration fee ($30) includes race chip timing, Shamrock Run t-shirt, finishers medal, swag bag and funnnn!

  • Register today for the 5K here

  • A portion of the event proceeds benefits their non profit partner The Warriors Keep who is raising money for their trip to Mount Kilimanjaro.

  • The 5k starts and ends in front of Tupps Brewery.

  • Packet pickup for runners is at Academy Sports + Outdoors in McKinney (Hwy 380/75) Wednesday before the event 4:30pm-6:30pm


  • Beer Pass

  • Beer Passes are sold in advance to eliminate wait lines on event day!

  • The Beer Pass ($20) includes three 16 ounce beers and a McKinney St. Patrick's Day Festival koozie!

  • Shuttle from the Chestnut Commons parking garage (Virginia/Chestnut) in downtown McKinney is free thanks event partner Auto Hail Repair Group. It will run from 10am-4pm.

  • There is free parking in the field at TUPPS if you wish to park there vs using the free shuttle


  • There are 2 Irish bands playing throughout the day thanks to our entertainment sponsor: Trinity Falls! The String Theory Band and The Tradition Band will play throughout the day, so bring your friends and family to celebrate in a true, Irish fashion!

  • Irish dancing from two dance academies, and LOTS of boutiques and shopping!

  • Don’t miss the photo booth and be sure to catch the McKinney St. Pats Leprechaun who will make an appearance from 10am-11am.

  • There will be costume contests happening throughout the day for prizes! Wear your green and dress wacky- it’s a St. Pat's party!



  • Do I have to run the 5K to attend the festival?

  • No. You do not have to go to the shamrock run to attend the festival BUT we do recommend it because it’s a blast! You do not have to run - you can definitely walk!

  • Is the festival really free?

  • Yes! Entrance the festival, parking, and all the entertainment is FREE. Food and drink is available for purchase (don't forget the beer pass) and the 5K is a ticketed event. Beer pass and 5K registration available here:

  • Is the festival family friendly?

  • Absolutely! Kids are encouraged to run (or walk) in the 5K with their parents. And they even have a 1st place stroller prize for the shamrock run. There are costume contests the kiddos can participate in and there will be a shamrock craft station!
