Our Farm to Table Feast at Harvest

From the cuisine and cocktails to the service and setting, Harvest has got it going on. If one could truly be in love with a restaurant, I’d be ready to get down on one knee and propose. The casual elegance, the perfectly executed farm to table inspiration, and the friendly and knowledgeable wait staff… I will happily dine at Harvest as long as we both shall live. Harvest is one of the rare restaurants where I feel like I could literally close my eyes, point to anything on the menu, and thoroughly enjoy it no matter where my finger landed. I have unconditional confidence in the kitchen and when I'm there I love to order things that I have never tried (or maybe never even heard of). The more

Yoga on the Square

YOGA. You know, that exercise involving calculated movements with breath and where one’s limberness is put to the test. Usually practiced in a dimly lit room with calming music and an instructor with a soothing voice. I’m not going to lie, yoga can be pretty intimidating especially when you picture that individual balancing their knees on their forearms with legs in the air (aka crow pose). But at the same time yoga can be very calming and makes you forget about the outside world for a bit. And that’s exactly what happened when Cassie and I joined a Vinyasa Flow class at North Texas Yoga (NTY) while on our McKinney staycation last month. Yoga was our first stop of the day and since we’re bot

A Staycation in Downtown McKinney

What do you do when you need a vacation but you're short on time and budget? Turn your vacation into a staycation! That's precisely what we did last month and our staycay destination was none other than Historic Downtown McKinney. Where to stay was a no-brainer: McKinney's newest bed & breakfast, The Neathery Estate. A quick 3 minute drive, or 15 minute walk, to the square made our meals and activities convenient and easy to get to. Check out our article on The Neathery Estate for more details and photos of the gorgeous historic home turned bed and breakfast. Our itinerary was jam-packed: a meal and an activity planned for morning, afternoon, and evening. If your staycation leads you to McKi

The Neathery Estate - McKinney's newest Bed & Breakfast

We must admit, we don't have a lot of experience with Bed and Breakfasts. Between the two of us we’ve got less than five stays under our belts and all those were too many years ago to even count. So we weren't exactly sure what to expect when we walked into downtown McKinney's newest B&B. To be honest, we were both expecting an old historic home, lots of dark wood, creaky floors, and maybe even some musty smells. Well we couldn't have been more off base! The Neathery Estate IS a historic home, but nothing about it seems old. Bright and airy, this bed and breakfast has been updated from top to bottom. The charming parts of its history have been kept intact but Tiffany, the proprietor, has don
