Date Night in McKinney - Dinner and a Show

Last month we ventured out on a gorgeous Saturday evening for a double date on the Square. On the agenda: dinner and drinks at Sugarbacon followed by a show at the Comedy Arena. Insider tip: on weekends, at the bottom of the Sugarbacon receipt you'll find a 15% off coupon for tickets at the Comedy Arena for that evening.* Eat, Drink: Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen It had been a while since we had visited Sugarbacon and we were all excited to be back. If you haven't been, Sugarbacon serves New American cuisine with a southern flair. They also make some mean craft cocktails (try the Bee Sting), and have an extensive wine list. The atmosphere is cozy and it's one of those place where you could come

The answer to our parenting dreams- Hat Creek Burger Company

Let me set a scene that unfortunately I’m all too familiar with. The work day is over and my husband and I have no energy to cook. So we decide that we’re actually feeling brave enough to take our rambunctious 3 year old and infant who’s bedtime is 6 pm out to dinner. Well just like we feared, our 3 year old is using the restaurant as his playground and the baby won’t stop crying unless you can figure out how to juggle holding her and eat your dinner at the same time. What should be the nice leisurely activity of dining out turns into more stress than it’s worth. This happens time and time again, preventing us from ever dining out unless we’re willing to pay for a sitter. Well, introducing o

Weekend Goals

It's another Christmas weekend here in McKinney with the annual Rotary Parade of Lights making it's way through downtown this Saturday. There will be over 100 floats and the big man himself will close out the parade to welcome in the holidays. It's a great family event that you won't want to miss. And while you're downtown might as well stop in for a drink at Mellow Mushroom. It may be a chain, but they have a great craft beer selection and when the garage doors open on the front patio it's a perfect spot to hang out and relax. Who knows, you might be able to crane your next and catch a glimpse of the parade. Not far from all the downtown action is Hutchins BBQ, a McKinney staple. Not only i

OK, North Texas… I guess we can share. Go ahead and discover one of our favorite local treasures: TUPPS Brewery. After self-distributing in North Texas for over 2 years, TUPPS has joined with Ben E. Keith who began distributing TUPPS brews to 36 counties this month. Chase Lewis, VP of sales at TUPPS Brewery, said in a press release: “To be successful in the beer business you have to, first and foremost, make great beer. Second, you have to present yourself well to the market. Last, but very far from least, you have to manage the distribution of your product very well. It’s an incredibly difficult and important part of this industry. Ben E. Keith has been distributing beer in North Texas with

Weekend Goals

Ever drive past the gorgeous historic homes on your way to the square and wonder what they look like inside? I certainly do! All that unique charm on the outside must only mean the inside is to die for. I’m so obsessed with these houses that I’ve even been known to take a detour home a time or two just so I can wind my way through the historic district and gawk at the beautiful structures. Well this weekend the wait is over and my year long love affair with the historic district will come to life during the Holiday Tour of Homes! For one weekend only an elite group of homes will open their doors to the public so we can take in their grandness and holiday splendor. Some of these homes date ba
